Azurite is named after the Persian word "lazhward", for its characteristic blue colour. It is a deep blue stone often containing inclusions of rich green malachite, both stones have nearly identical chemistry. Azurite’s patterning sometimes resembles the earth, in it’s alternating organic splashes of green and blue. This stone is found in many places around the world, but is most commonly mined in the US, Mexico, Namibia, The Congo, Morocco, and France. In France this stone was once referred to as Chessylite, after the name of the region in which it was found; Chessy. It is a highly sought-after gemstone that helps enhance creativity and inner wisdom because it cleanses and activates the third eye chakra.
