Herbal Smoke Bundles by Appalachian Sacred Smoke
Mary Ellen Lough is a poet and writer and is interested in folk medicine and folkways. She lives in a beloved old farmhouse in southern Appalachia where she raises her five children (two are grown now) while growing and foraging herbs and teaching poetry as a path to healing. She trained at the Institute for Poetic Medicine and she doesn't believe that plants and poetry are separate. She comes from a long line of mystics and folk healers. She spends a lot of time researching what goes into traditional smoke bundles for magical and medicinal purposes, as well as practicing intuitive listening to the plants which grow in our bio region. Mary Ellen weaves bundles according to the seasons and what's growing. She grew up weaving baskets and gardening with her mother and a lot of those traditional skills go into making each bundle a small work of art filled with great love.
