Malachite is a bright green stone with black inclusions that often appear as stripes or bands. This mineral was named for its resemblance to the leaves on a mallow plant. Most Malachite is found in Mexico, Australia, Russia, and the African nations of Congo, Gabon, Zambia, and Namibia. Malachite was a common ingredient in green paints during the Renaissance including the paint used by Michaelangelo in his painting of the Sistine Chapel. In the metaphysical community, Malachite is used to enhance emotional expression. Malachite is also believed to hold healing properties that promote inner balance and a positive mindset.
