Welcome to Cherry Tree Beads! We are a small bead store located in the small town of Swannanoa, just outside Asheville, North Carolina. Whether you visit us in our beautiful showroom or shop with us online, we aim to provide you with a personal and inspiring experience. Cherry Tree Beads was founded in 2002 by Bill Edwards in Evinston, Florida. Bill began by selling beads on eBay and attending trade shows, where he met Jennifer Fulton in 2007. Together, they launched the website in 2008 and began offering trunk shows for bead stores. In 2012, Jennifer and her husband, Mitchell Baynard, purchased the business. At the time, Cherry Tree Beads was run from the basement of their home as they juggled launching the website and organizing trunk shows.

 

After purchasing the business, Jennifer and Mitchell were excited to move out of their basement and into a rented space near the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. They operated there for several years before purchasing a historic building in Swannanoa. Over two years, they lovingly renovated the century-old structure into the beautiful showroom and workspace it is today. They moved into this new space in 2018, and they couldn’t be happier to call Swannanoa home. Renovating the building was a rewarding experience, and they’re proud to welcome customers into this thoughtfully restored space.

 

Jennifer has had a lifelong love of beads. She started making jewelry at the age of 8 and was selling her designs in boutiques by 16. After studying Marketing at UNC Asheville, she worked at a local bead shop, gaining valuable industry experience. Jennifer travels to China several times a year to source the latest beads and jewelry-making supplies, bringing a designer’s eye and unique creativity to every aspect of the business.
