Malachite (synthetic) - Set A 8 inch strands
Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, formed in fractures and spaces deep underground, where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation. This mineral was given its name from its resemblance to the leaves of the mallow plant. It was mined extensively in Great Britain 3,800 years ago using stone and bone tools, allowing up to 1,760 tonnes of copper to be produced from smelting the mined malachite. Malachite is sometimes called the stone of life, representing both birth and death; Ancient Egyptians believed it would allow resurrection and that it also aided infertility. This stone activates the heart chakra and resonates strongly with the heart chakra. It can be used to promote balance, abundance, and draws emotions to the surface.
Our Synthetic Malachite is just as beautiful as the natural stone. The greens are so vivid and alive; and we love it's lighter weight which makes it easier to wear! The added concern over mining practices and the health of the miners, has driven us to consciously make the decision to only carry the synthetic. Though labor laws in China now require better ventilation, extended exposure to the dust can lead to arsenic poisoning or silicosis.
