Peridot is named for the Arabic word “faridat” meaning “gem.” Peridot has been found in China, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the United States, specifically the state of Hawaii. Peridot Beach in Kaʻū, Hawaii, is named for its green sand that contains fragments of Peridot and olivine mineral. 

Known as the stone of compassion in the metaphysical community, Peridot symbolizes peaceful interpersonal relationships. Peridot is also believed to hold healing properties that can enhance compassion, emotional well-being, and gratitude.
